Growing up, Afia watched her father work with an accounting book and a big calculator to balance it. He was her main source of inspiration for her career choice. Afia has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the Business School of the University of Ghana. She then went on to complete an MBA at Warwick Business School in the UK. Prior to joining SMT, Afia worked for KPMG as a Senior Partner. She is a member of ACCA (Chartered and Certified Accountants Association) in the UK and a member of ICAG (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana).
The daily challenges Afia faces are to seek appropriate and affordable financing options for her clients, meet increasing regulatory requirements and develop talent.

Afia says that she has not yet faced a situation where being a woman could lead to difficulties in her professional life. Afia is passionate about her role within the company as a trusted advisor to the CEO. She receives full support from the management in her decision making, which is very stimulating and motivating. She has the opportunity to influence a wide range of strategic decisions in all divisions.
